Dwight Eisenhower - 1953 Cross of Iron Speech

...Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies, in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed.
This world in arms is not spending money alone. It is spending the sweat of its laborers, the genius of its scientists, the hopes of its children. The cost of one modern heavy bomber is this: a modern brick school in more than thirty cities... We pay for a single fighter plane with a half million bushels of wheat. We pay for a single destroyer with new homes that could have housed more than eight thousand people.
This, I repeat, is the best way of life to be found on the road the world has been taking. This is not a way of life at all, in any true sense. Under the cloud of threatening war, it is humanity hanging from a cross of iron....

This speech is 55 years old...what have we learned?

Hi - love the 2 newest entries!

I have the most beautiful biography on Dwight David Eisenhower; guess I'll have to put your name on it so you 'inherit it'.

The play-list I did that I do believe you can add to this blog, is organized so the music supports your entries very nicely (I'm listening to it now as I read your remarks).

Give it a go - I think you do have the Google format, and you can get the code from my play-list; put that into the HTML page element, and post.

I usually put the music at the bottom of the page, so it's completely visible.

Good luck. Love, Diane
